TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A fatal crash happened Tuesday morning at Park and Sandario after deputies received a call around 5:17 a.m. that a motorcyclist was under a pickup truck.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that for an unknown reason, the motorcyclist had locked up his break and laid down his scooter on the road. He was then separated from it.

The scooter ended up on the eastern shoulder and he ended up on the southbound lane. He was wearing a helmet, gloves and all of the appropriate protective gear.

A pickup truck traveling southbound on Sandario saw the headlights of the down scooter. The driver looked ahead and saw the motrocyclist's body in his lane, but couldn't avoid running over him. The driver was in a fullsize GMC.

The deceased rider of the motor scooter has been identified as 56-year-old Perry P. Rubinelli. No other details are known about him at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
