TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Fire paramedics transported a 2-year-old female child to a hospital Wednesday night after the child became unresponsive while taking a bath with her older brother.

The call took place in the area of Golf Links and Wilmot.

In a news release, Cpt. Barrett Baker with TFD said that the two kids were taking a bath when the mother went to the other room to quickly change clothes. The approximately 5-year-old brother started yelling "lifeguard."

The mother ran back in to find the 2-year-old child unresponsive. She immediately called 9-1-1 and started performing CPR.

A TFD engine company and paramedic unit arrived on the scene where the mother was holding the child outside the home. The child's breathing was sparse. She was immediately transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation and care.

Baker said that active adult supervision is the best possible way to prevent any sort of accident around water when dealing with children.
