Local Oscar nominee

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Oscars are right around the corner, and while you're already rooting for your favorite Hollywood movie this year, there's a short-film with local ties you should also be on the lookout for.
Tucson native Tim Reckart's movie "Head Over Heels" has been nominated for best animated short-film.
Imagine taking a puppet, moving it ever so slightly, taking a picture of that movement, and then doing it all over again for six months!
It's called stop-motion animation, and it's how Tim made "Head Over Heels".
It's a ten minute short about an older couple who just can't seem to agree on which way is up, and which way is down.
Tim told 9 On Your Side that his movie was inspired by his long-distance relationship with his girlfriend and a Rembrandt painting, "Philosopher in Meditation".
Tim said he was absolutely not expecting to be nominated for an Oscar, but when he saw the press release that listed his name as a contender, he was in shock.
"I mean, the first thing I did was I checked that they had spelled my name right," Tim said. "My brother and my girlfriend started jumping around in the background screaming with joy, and I was like oh, I guess that's what I'm supposed to be doing."
Tim said he will be wearing a rented tuxedo to the festivities, and as for what he will do if he wins, he said he isn't even thinking that far ahead.
"Head Over Heels" is available for purchase on iTunes.
