Man is killed in drunk-driving accident
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A man died early Sunday after a drunk driver jumped the median on Grant Road and collided head on with another vehicle.
A two-vehicle collision occurred near I-10 and Grant Road just after 5:00 a.m. Sunday, according to Sgt. Chris Widmer with the Tucson Police Department.
Widmer tells KGUN9 that 20-year-old Thomas Lancaster was driving his Kia Rio westbound on Grant Road when he jumped the median and collided head on with 39-year-old Steven Williams' Honda Accord as he was headed eastbound on Grant Road, near the underpass.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene and Lancaster suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, according to Widmer.
Widmer says alcohol was a factor in the accident and that Lancaster has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and one count of felony criminal damage.
