Police identify victim in Thursday's head-on collision, make arrest

  • Traffic detectives believe that alcohol and other substances may have been a factor in a head-on collision that left a man dead. Police arrested Anthony William Thierry following the crash.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - One man has died as a result of his injuries following a head-on collision on Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Chris Widmer with Tucson Police tells KGUN9 that at 2:07 p.m., officers responded to a collision on Kolb Road between Irvington and Valencia Road.

When officer arrived on scene, they located a two vehicle, head on collision in the northbound lanes of Kolb Road between Irvington and Valencia.

One adult male, 66-year-old John R. MacIntire, was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.  Two others suffered minor injuries, said Widmer.

Traffic detectives responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.

The investigation revealed that 25-year-old Anthony William Thierry was driving a 2000 Toyota Tundra, headed southbound on Kolb Road when he crossed over the raised mediam and struck the vehicle driven by MacIntire.

Detectives believe that alcohol and other substances may have played a role in causing the collision.

Thierry was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder, one count of endangerment and one count of felony criminal damage.
