Tucson hospital earns A in safety rankings

TUCSON, Ariz. - A local hospital group is making the grades.

Carondelet's St. Mary's hospital has recently been given a grade A in safety.

That's according to a new ranking done by Leapfrog, a group who evaluates hospitals nationally.

The non-profit updates these grades every spring and fall.

Carondelet's St. Joseph's hospital was recognized last year with an A ranking, and has carried that distinction into the spring safety list.

The grade comes from efforts in protecting patients and meeting high standards, according to a media release sent by Carondelet.

"Everyone at Carondelet works hard to deliver excellent care. It validates our drive for continuous improvement and is gratifying to see the efforts of our employees and physicians recognized for high performance in clinical care and patient satisfaction," Carondelet CEO Mark Benz said in a release.
